      Description

      We found that encoding problems are related most frequently to the improper handling of the JVM settings (more precisely file.encoding and sun.jnu.encoding parameters)
      these two parameters take the default encoding used by the operating system which causes the display of extra characters in some cases.

      we wonder why not force them to UTF-8 since it is the preferred encoding for not have such problems (e.g displaying é instead of é for the case OS: IBM AIX and JVM: IBM JDK 1.6.0
      with ISO 8859-1 encoding).

      At setenv.sh file (.bat) adding these two parameters:

      CATALINA_OPTS="$CATALINA_OPTS -Dfile.encoding=utf-8 -Dsun.jnu.encoding=utf-8"
